Orissa chess player Aparajita Gochhikar achieved the biggest success of her career by bagging gold medal in the under-18 girls category of the Commonwealth and South Africa Open Chess Championship, which concluded at Johannesburg in South Africa today.
Puri lass Aparajita scored seven points out of 11 rounds to finish 77th in the final standings. She won five games, drew four and lost two. Aparajita was the only player from Orissa to participate in the Commonwealth Championship.
